Before you bid: the questions worth asking

A starting checklist for the property, the paperwork and the auction process.

PropertyAuction.co.uk · · 2 min read

Understand the property and its paperwork

Read the sales particulars, conditions and legal pack. Ask a solicitor experienced in auctions to explain issues that could affect your purchase. Arrange appropriate inspection and survey advice rather than relying on marketing photographs.

Check the terms for this lot

Confirm the auction method, required payments, buyer fees and completion timetable. Ask what happens when you make a successful bid and whether anything has changed since the catalogue was published. Keep in contact with the auctioneer up to the sale.

Keep a record of unanswered questions

Create a short list of what you know, what is still uncertain and who will confirm it. Use our research checklist to organise your preparation, and return to the original auctioneer for current documents and sale terms.

This is general information, not legal or financial advice. Requirements differ by property, auction method and UK jurisdiction.
